Weed Watcher Training

UPDATE – New date and location for Weed Watcher training

The Weed Watcher training class originally scheduled for June 2nd has been rescheduled to June 9th from 12 to 1:30 pm in the Community Meeting Room at Franklin Savings Bank at 67 Laconia Rd in Tilton (next to the Tilton Diner).

The WWN is seeking volunteer weed watchers to help conduct once-monthly surveys of the shoreline areas of Lake Winnisquam near where they live to identify and locate invasive plant species. Early detection enables us to more easily manage invasive weed growths and prevent them from spreading.  Staff from NHDES will instruct volunteers on how to conduct a weed survey, what to look for, and who to contact if there is a problem. You will also be provided with a binder full of information on the program, details on the most threatening invasives, and a plant identification key for common aquatic plants. If you cannot attend the training class but are interested in becoming a weed watcher please let us know and we will make arrangements to provide the training materials to you.

Our aim is to get weed watcher volunteers trained to cover each sector of the lake. Please email us at winnisquamwatershednetwork@gmail.com if you can help out.  Also please visit our  Facebook page @winsquamwatershednetwork.
